Introducing the Technical Deal Room
November 2, 2026 · Casey O'Brien
Every presales leader knows how this POC goes. Week one is fine. Then the buyer asks for one more use case. Security wants a look. Someone asks who signed off on the criteria, and nobody can point to a record. Four weeks become eight, and the readout turns into a negotiation about what was promised.
The Technical Deal Room fixes that at the source. It’s a branded room for each engagement, shared with your buyer, where both sides run the technical evaluation together: success criteria, POC stages, demo plans, a mutual action plan and the evidence behind every decision. It’s live in PresalesIQ today.
Success criteria your buyer actually agreed to
Success criteria only work when the buyer has agreed to them in writing. In the Deal Room, they do.
- Agreement, as written. Your buyer accepts each criterion exactly as it’s worded. If your team edits one, the room asks for agreement again.
- Stage sign-off. Buyers sign off each POC stage or decline it, right in the room.
- Gates that hold. Optional gates keep a stage from closing until the buyer has agreed or signed off.
That turns “we need a few more weeks” into a conversation about one specific criterion, with a name and a date next to it.
One plan, both sides
The room opens on the plan: whether it’s on track for the target date, a timeline of every phase and what each side owes next. Action items carry an owner and a due date, and your buyer ticks off their own.
Link a demo plan or a POC to a phase, and its step ticks itself when the demo is delivered or the POC completes. Nobody updates the plan by hand to say what already happened.
POCs and demo plans in one room
The technical evaluation is bigger than the POC, so the room holds all of it: the demo plan for next week’s session, the POC with its success criteria and use cases, key dates, links and the people your buyer will work with.
Your team chooses which POCs, demo plans and details to share, and Preview as customer shows exactly what your buyer sees.
Every step on the record
Agreements, sign-offs, comments and uploads are recorded with who did what and when, and a closed room stays on record. When the deal review asks whether the buyer agreed to the criteria, you show them. Any section exports to CSV.
That record is also the cleanest evidence of a technical win you’ll ever have: the buyer’s own agreement and sign-off, dated and attributed.
Built for your buyer’s security team too
- Guests sign in with an invite link and a one-time code sent to their email. No passwords to manage.
- Sessions time out, and removing a guest signs them out at once.
- Guests can ask to bring in colleagues from their own company, and your team approves each request.
- Every uploaded file is malware-scanned before anyone can download it.
- One switch disables external access and revokes every guest link and session.
What it changes for presales leaders
A POC with agreed success criteria is a POC with a finish line. Leaders get fewer evaluations that drift past their dates, fewer surprises at the readout and a technical win they can defend in the forecast call, because the buyer’s agreement is on the record.
And because the room draws on the POCs and demo plans your team already builds in PresalesIQ, there’s no second tool to set up or keep in sync.

Frequently asked questions
What is a technical deal room? A shared, branded space where the buyer and the presales team run the technical evaluation together: success criteria, POC stages, demo plans, a mutual action plan and the evidence behind every decision.
Do buyers need a PresalesIQ account? No. Your buyer opens an invite link and signs in with a one-time code sent to their email.
What happens when success criteria change? Edit a criterion and the room asks the buyer to agree again, so the record always shows what was agreed, by whom and when.
Can buyers bring in their colleagues? Yes. A guest can ask to invite colleagues from their own company, and your team approves or rejects each request.
